Introduction

Our privacy policy (the “Privacy Policy”) explains the information we collect, how we use and share it, how to manage your privacy controls and your rights in connection with our website and the related mobile application and services (collectively, the “Service”). Please also read our Terms of Service which sets out the terms governing the Service.

JioFit is provided to you by Jio Platforms Limited.

Unless indicated otherwise, this Privacy Policy does not apply to other Jio products and services (which have their own privacy policies) or third party products or services, including other companies you might interact with on or through the Service. All such third party products or services have their own privacy policies, which you must read and consent to separately.

Information JioFit Collects

JioFit collects information about you, including information that directly or indirectly identifies you, if you or your other JioFit users choose to share it with JioFit. We receive information in a few different ways, including when you track, complete or upload activities using the Service. JioFit also collects information about how you use the Service. There are also several opportunities for you to share information about yourself, your friends, and your activities with JioFit. For example:

Account, Profile, Activity, and Use Information

We collect basic account information such as your name, mobile number, email address, date of birth, gender, weight, username and a one-time password (sent to you via sms) that helps secure and provide you with access to our Service.

Profile, activity and use information is collected about you when you choose to upload a picture, video, post, or activity (including date, time and geo-location information as well as your speed and pace and perceived exertion), join a challenge, add your equipment usage, view others’ activities, or otherwise use the Service.

We use your contact information so we can contact you when needed. For example, to respond to your support requests.

Location Information

We collect and process location information when you sign up for and use the Service. We do not track your device location while you are not using the Service. But in order to use our core features (e.g., GPS activity tracking, routes, segment leader-boards, etc.), it is necessary for you to permit us to track your device location while you use the Service. If you would like to stop the device location tracking, you may do so at any time by adjusting your device settings.

Content You Share

We gather information from the content you share on the Service, including when you participate in challenges.

Connected Devices and Apps

JioFit collects information from devices and apps you connect to JioFit. For example, you may connect your Garmin watch to JioFit and information from these devices and apps will be passed along to JioFit via Garmin.

Health Information

JioFit may collect or infer health information. Certain health information may be inferred from sources such as heart rate or other measurements, including power, cadence, and weight or other indicators. Before you can upload health information to JioFit, you must give your explicit consent to the processing of that health information by JioFit (which may be processed directly by JioFit or through another data processor). You can withdraw your consent to JioFit processing your health information at any time by writing an email to jiofit.devsupport@ril.com.

Denying JioFit access to health-information

Should you deny JioFit consent to process and store your health information, you will still be able to upload activities although health information will be removed.

Technical Information and Log Files

We collect information from your browser, computer, or mobile device, which provides us with technical information when you access or use the Service. This technical information includes device and network information, cookies, log files and analytics information.

The Service uses log files. The information stored in those files includes IP addresses, browser type, internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, platform type, date/time stamp, and number of clicks. This information is used to analyse trends, administer, protect and secure the Service, track user movement in the aggregate, and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use. IP addresses may be linked to session IDs, user IDs and device identifiers.

Other Information

We may collect information directly from you or through our service providers, such as when we collect your feedback through surveys.

We may also collect information about you from other JioFit users such as when they comment on your activities.

How JioFit Uses Information

JioFit uses the information we collect and receive as described below.

To provide the Service

We use the information we collect and receive to provide the Service, including providing you with the ability to:

Your information, including parts of your profile, username, photos/videos, users you follow and who follow you on JioFit, your activities, the devices you use, and comments you give and receive will be shared on JioFit so that you may be able to participate in the Service, for example to show your place on a leader-board. Certain information (e.g., your name, and some profile information) is also available to non-users on the web. Your precise location information, such as where you run or ride, may also be shared on JioFit or to non-users.

To protect you and the Service

We use the information we collect and receive to protect users, enforce our Terms of Service, and promote safety. For example, we find and remove content that violates our terms, such as hate speech or spam, as well as suspend or terminate accounts that share such content. JioFit reserves the right to review accounts and user actions on the Service to ensure compliance with our Terms. To assist you with a support request

We use the information we collect and receive to provide support in response to your requests and comments. Depending on your request, this may require us to access your account, for example, to troubleshoot or replicate a reported issue.

To improve our Service

We also use the information we collect and receive to conduct research, and to analyse, develop, troubleshoot, and improve the Service. To do this, JioFit may use third-party analytics providers to gain insights into how our Service us used, using aggregated data, and to help us improve the Service.

To communicate with you

We may also use the information we collect and receive to market and promote the Service, activities and events on JioFit, and other commercial products or services, including using email and push notifications, in accordance with your preferences. We may also contact you for partnership opportunities, with marketing information, when investigating alleged violations of our terms, or to send proactive customer support messages.

How Information is Shared

We may share personal information with third parties, including with our affiliates, as needed to run our business and provide the Service, and where required for legal purposes. In addition, we may share aggregated data about our users.

Service Providers

We may share your information with third parties in order for these third parties to provide their products or services. These service providers are required to protect and secure your information. We may also engage service providers to collect information about your use of the Service over time on our behalf, to promote JioFit or display information that may be relevant to your interests on the Service or other websites or services.

Publicly Available Information

When you join the JioFit community as an individual of 18 years of age or older, your profile and your activities are set to be viewable by everyone. Your name and other profile information is viewable by other JioFit users and the public. For example, your media content and routes may be accessed by other JioFit users and non-users or viewable on publicly accessible JioFit pages or in search engine results.

Sharing Information and Activities

We share your information with other JioFit users and the public in accordance with your privacy controls. You can change the visibility of the activities you upload to JioFit. You can also share your activities with your contacts via available options on your device.

Advertising

We may use the information we collect and receive about you to provide you with advertising.

Third Party Business Integrations

We enable you to share your information and content with third party apps, plugins, or websites that integrate with the Service, as well as with third parties who work with JioFit to offer an integrated feature, such as a challenge sponsor, media streaming, or tracking device. You can choose to share your profile data and activity data (including private activities) with these third parties. Information collected by these third parties is subject to their terms and policies and may not provide you with the same privacy controls that are available on JioFit. JioFit is not responsible for the terms or policies of third parties.

Aggregate Information

JioFit may deidentify and aggregate the information you and others make available in connection with the Service and post it publicly or share it with third parties. Examples include information about equipment, usage, demographics, routes, performance, and challenge participation and completion. JioFit may use, sell, license, and share this aggregated information with third parties for research, business, advertising or other purposes such as to improve walking, running or riding or to help our partners understand more about users, including the people who use their products and services.

Affiliates and Acquirors of our Business or Assets

Your information might be shared with our affiliates. Additionally, we may share or transfer your information in connection with any business combination, securities offering, bankruptcy, reorganisation, dissolution, or other similar transaction in which we are involved.

Legal Requirements

If we determine that disclosing your information is permitted by law or reasonably necessary to comply with the law, including to respond to court orders, investigation requests, or other legal or regulatory process, we may keep it and share it with third parties, including law enforcement agencies, public or governmental agencies, or private litigants, inside or outside India.

We may also keep your information if we believe it to be reasonably necessary or appropriate to: (1) prevent death or serious bodily harm to any person; (2) to address issues of national security or other issues of public importance; (3) respond to emergencies involving public safety; (4) identify, prevent, or otherwise address violations of our Terms of Service; fraud or abuse of JioFit or its users; or (5) protect our operations, our property, or other legal rights, including by disclosing information to our legal representatives or consultants.

Managing Your Settings

Updating Account Information

By changing the information in your account settings, you can anytime edit, modify, or update profile or account information. Please get in touch with JioFit at jiofit.devsupport@ril.com if you need any more help updating erroneous information.

Deleting Information and Accounts and Downloading Your Data

For deactivating your account, you can write to us at jiofit.devsupport@ril.com

We remove your personal data from our systems, including backups, if you request the cancellation of your account. Your data, including your account, activity, and leader-board position, cannot be recovered once it has been erased. Your personal data and system logs may a few days to disappear from our systems after you delete your account.

In order to comply with the law and carry out other legally permitted operations, we may also keep information about individuals for which deletion requests have been made.

Please be aware that we have no control over any content you may have copied or that you may have directly shared with others on other social media platforms, such as pictures or videos. In other words, even if you delete your account or a specific piece of information from your personal profile, the material or information may still be accessible. Until the search engine updates its cache, your public profile can be shown in search engine results.

You can also delete specific activities that you’ve posted on JioFit without deleting your account. The activity can still be present on JioFit’s systems after being deleted up until you delete your account.

How We Protect Information

JioFit puts in place security procedures and controls at the technological, physical, and organisational levels to protect the transfer and storage of the data we gather. We take reasonable precautions to protect your information, taking into account its sensitivity.

Please be advised that despite our best efforts, we cannot guarantee that your account or information will always be completely secure. You can also take precautions to safeguard your account and data by setting up a special password just for JioFit that is difficult to guess and that you don’t use anywhere else, refraining from sharing your password with anyone else, and reporting any suspicious behaviour or unauthorised account access right once.

Our Legal Basis

For the reasons outlined in this Privacy Policy, JioFit depends on a number of legal basiss to gather, use, disclose, and otherwise process the information we have about you, including:

Retention of Information

As long as it’s necessary to deliver the Service to you and others, we keep information as long as we’re legally required to keep it, too. Generally speaking, information related to your account will be retained until either it is no longer required to offer the Service.

Additionally, you have the option to to hide specific activity from public view on the Service without also deleting your account. For instance, if you tell JioFit that you no longer want it to process your health information, JioFit will remove all of your uploaded health-related actions. Your personal data and system logs may take a few days to completely vanish from our systems after you delete your account. We might also keep information if doing so is necessary to follow the law, stop fraud, collect fees, settle disputes, troubleshoot issues, help with investigations, enforce the Terms of Service, or take other legal measures. We will treat the data we keep in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

In order to offer JioFit with insights that are commercially valuable, such as statistics about how the Service is used, information related to you that is no longer required and relevant to provide our Service to you may be de-identified or aggregated with other non-personal data. To further optimise the Service, for instance, we might keep track of publicly accessible segments or routes and other depersonalised geolocation data.

Privacy Policy Updates

JioFit maintains the right to alter this Privacy Policy whenever it sees fit. Please occasionally review it. If JioFit modifies this Privacy Policy, the revised privacy policy will be promptly posted. We will give a clear notice if we make any changes that we believe to be significant. You should cease using the Service and delete your account if you disagree with any modifications made to this Privacy Policy.
